Jackanory 2. Another fantasy

This is just a fantasy I wrote many years ago for a competition in which it came second.

I rounded the corner to our pre-arranged meeting place and saw you straight away.

It's been a while since we've been able to meet up, but you don't seem to be alone, which confuses me, but as soon as you see my car you wave me over.

I pull in by the curb and you open the front door explaining you've bumped into a very old and very good friend unexpectedly on the train, and you ask if I mind if he joins us.
